The Good Roads Legal Defense Fund enables the association to intervene on behalf of its member municipalities to provide courts with contextual information about a proceeding. Such intervention will assist courts in understanding the potential repercussions of a case for the construction and maintenance of municipal transportation assets across Canada.
In the past, the willingness of Good Roads to become involved in such cases has been instrumental in achieving favourable outcomes for municipalities. Good Roads’ intervention has made effective contributions – particularly when cases affect small municipalities – that would be challenging for a municipality to realize by acting alone.
