Signs & Lines delivers practical, online training in the use of Ontario Traffic Manuals 5, 6, and 11, equipping participants with the knowledge to make informed, defensible decisions about road signage and pavement markings. Brian Anderson, Road Specialist/RSATL – Retired, Intact Public Entities – Prior to joining Intact Public Entities, Brian worked for both urban and rural municipalities as well as the Municipal Office of the Ministry of Transportation and Good Roads. Intact Public Entities assist’s client municipalities with their road safety issues. Brian’s experience in building, maintaining and managing municipal infrastructure provided a foundation for resolving road safety issues.

Do I need prior experience with Ontario Traffic Manuals?

Answer:

No prior experience is required. The course will introduce you to OTM 5, 6, and 11 with practical applications and examples.

Is the course evaluated?

Answer:

Yes. Evaluation includes module quizzes, and a comprehensive final examination.

Will we be provided with a course binder?

Answer:

Yes. There is a downloadable student workbook that includes reference materials and practical tools for signage management.

What should I do if I have a question or do not understand something?

Answer:

How long do I have to complete the course?

Answer:

You must complete all modules and assessments by the end of your chosen semester (4 months). No extensions or carry over to the next semester are permitted regardless of when you started the course.

Will I receive the same accreditation as the in-person version?

Answer:

Yes, the online version provides identical accreditation and recognition from all listed professional organizations.

Can I access the course materials after completion?

Answer:

The student workbook includes all of the course content and reference materials. Be sure to download it before the end of the semester so you can access it as you please.

What happens if I don't pass the final exam?

Answer:

Most assessments and the final exam allow 3 attempts. If you do not pass the first time you can try 2 more times.

Will there be real examples of collision investigations?

Answer:

Yes, the course includes anonymized case studies and examples that demonstrate practical application of signage standards in real-world scenarios.
