October 6 – 9, 2026 | Holiday Inn, Oakville
Road safety isn’t just a design consideration. It’s a commitment. Road Safety School brings together municipal engineers, planners, and transportation professionals for four intensive days of specialized training built around one unifying goal: fewer fatalities and serious injuries on Ontario roads.
Guided by international Safe System expert Kenn Beer, this is the only event in Ontario where you’ll move from foundational principles to hands-on, discipline-specific expertise, all in one week.
Member rate: $2,100.
Road Safety School is structured a little differently. Here’s what to expect:
Day 1: Safe System Principles Workshop (All Attendees)
Your Road Safety School experience begins together. On Tuesday, October 6, every participant joins a full-day workshop led by Kenn Beer on the Safe System Approach, the internationally recognized framework that underpins modern road safety practice. This is your foundation for everything that follows.
Days 2 to 4: Your Chosen Course (Select One)
Starting Wednesday, October 7, attendees split into specialized streams. Each course runs for three full days and goes deep into its subject area. You select one course when you register, as they run concurrently and cannot be combined.
Road Safety Audit
Master systematic road safety assessment using the 2023 Ontario Road Safety Audit Guideline. This course provides a pathway to registration as a certified Road Safety Auditor, a credential with growing demand across Ontario municipalities.
Road Safety Barriers
A relatively new area of formal training in Ontario, this course covers current approaches to barrier design and implementation. If your municipality is facing gaps in barrier practice, this is the course that fills them.
Designing for Motion: Active Transportation
Reimagine your roads from the perspective of pedestrians and cyclists. This course addresses vulnerable road user safety through updated design principles and real-world application.
Traffic Safety Analytics (New in 2026)
Data is one of the most powerful tools in road safety, if you know how to use it. This new course introduces participants to traffic safety analytics methods and their application in identifying risk, prioritizing interventions, and measuring outcomes.
