Connected (CV) and autonomous (AV) vehicles are poised to revolutionize how vehicles use our roads. The time for Ontario municipalities to prepare for this change is now. That’s why Good Roads launched the Municipal Alliance for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles in Ontario (MACAVO).

MACAVO is an alliance of municipalities committed to understanding the impact that CVs and AVs will have on municipal road authorities. Research, knowledge transfer, testing and coordination are at the heart of this work.

Already, MACAVO has managed to create the Windsor-Ottawa Preferred Autonomous Vehicles Test Corridor. Working with municipalities along the route allowed participating road authorities to determine the local roadways that should be considered “preferred” roads for testing of CVs and AVs and technologies.
