Course Description

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the latest winter maintenance practices, equipment and materials. It has been designed to complement the training requirements for salt management plans.

T.J. Mahony Road School – Construction Section: ONLINE (Semester 2)

Course Description

Throughout this course, we will break down the basics of road construction. equip you with the knowledge needed to understand how we design roads to withstand the challenges of our unique climate.

We will also dive into the world of contracts and legal responsibilities in road projects. Understanding how to manage these aspects of road construction is crucial for successful projects. By the end of the course, you will have built a baseline skill set to help you navigate the different components of road infrastructure projects.

  2. Describe the foundational construction material techniques and properties to place, finish, and cure concrete across applicable applications.

Course Schedule

This is a self-paced online course. Participants will work through each module individually at their own speed. You will have access to the course 24 hours a day 7 days a week so you can learn when and where you want.

The course, activities, and tests take approx. 20 – 30 hrs to complete. You will have access to the course until the end of August.

Lesson content is presented as text and videos. There are also interactive activities. There is no interaction with a live instructor. You can contact the instructors by email if you have any questions.

Participants will receive an enrollment email within 48 hrs of registering. Please check your junk mail if you do not see it. If this is your first online course with good roads, you will also get a new user email. Please use the link in the new user email to set your password.

• Identify the type and severity of material defects,
• Assess and rate the condition of a variety of bridge elements, and
• Report your findings using the OSIM forms.

• Procedures for conducting and documenting a detailed visual inspection using OSIM, including identification of material defects, material condition, defect severity levels, and performance deficiencies.

Government employees, consultants, and contractors involved in the detailed visual inspections of bridges, or individuals who need to gain an understanding of OSIM reports.
